Artists coming to 20th annual Berks Jazz Fest receive
Grammy Award nominations
Several artists scheduled to perform at the 20th annual
VF Outlet Berks Jazz Fest recently received GrammyAward
nominations.
Chris Botti, Boney James and The Robert Cray Band are among
the nominees for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, being
telecast live Jan. 31 from the Staples Center in Los
Angeles.
Trumpeter Chris Botti is nominated in the Best Pop
Instrumental Album category for his March Columbia release
In Boston. He also received a nomination for Best Long Form
Music Video, also for In Boston.
Botti will be opening up this year's festival with his
Friday, March 19, performance at 7:30 p.m. in the Reading
Eagle Theater at the Sovereign Center.
Botti's success has crossed over to audiences usually
reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS
has led to four No. 1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold,
Platinum and Grammy awards.
Boney James scored a nomination for Best Traditional R&B
Vocal Performance, along with vocalist Quinn, for "Don't Let
Me Be Lonely Tonight," a track from his February Concord
Records release, Send One Your Love.
James is closing out this year's 20th anniversary festival
in rousing fashion with his show Sunday, March 28, at 7 p.m.
at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
The Robert Cray Band has been nominated in the Best
Contemporary Blues Album category for its latest album This
Time, on the Nozzle Records label.
Blues fans can catch The Robert Cray Band on Wednesday,
March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Crowne Plaza Reading Ballroom.
