Tommy Castro nominated for two BMA Awards: B.B. King Entertainer of the Year; Blues Rock Artist

Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest headliner Tommy Castro has been nominated for two 2023 Blues Music Awards.

Castro, winner of the prestigious B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award in 2022, was nominated again in the category, along with Sugaray Rayford (2020 winner), Eric Gales, Bobby Rush (2015 winner), and Mr. Sipp.

Castro, guitarist/singer/songwriter, also was nominated in the Blues Rock Artist category, along with Walter Trout, Albert Castiglia, Joanne Shaw Taylor, and Tinsley Ellis.

Rayford, Gales, Castiglia, and Mr. Sipp are past Reading Blues Fest headliners.

In addition to the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award last year, Castro received BMAs for Band of the Year and Album of the Year.

The 44th annual BMA Awards ceremony will be held May 11 in Memphis, Tenn.

Tommy Castro & The Painkillers with special guest Deanna Bogart will perform two concerts on Saturday, April 1, during the 32ndannual Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest.

The shows are set for 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.
