Saxophonist Boney James has participated in more than half of the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fests, as one of the festival’s most popular headliners.

His contemporary jazz with a strong infusion of R&B has earned him four Grammy nominations, and he has just released his 17th album, “Solid” (2020), featuring songs written during the COVID-19 lockdown.

James picked up the saxophone at age 10 and never put it down; he started performing during his teen years in Los Angeles, and paid his dues for seven years of touring and sessions with the Isley Brothers, Bobby Caldwell, Randy Crawford and others.

Since his successful debut album, “Trust” (1992), he has regularly topped the Billboard charts with albums produced by Paul Brown, then co-produced by James. Now he produces his own records.

He is happy to be back on the road with his band, and will enjoy performing material from “Solid” for live audiences.
