Miller Center for the Arts
Tickets: $49 (Reserved Seating)

Joey DeFrancesco, who grew up in Philadelphia, is a third-generation jazz musician, so his talent comes honestly. He began playing Hammond organ as a young child, added trumpet, sax and vocals, and was a finalist in the first Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition in 1987.

Joey was one of the youngest musicians to be recruited by Miles Davis for his band, and he has performed with countless renowned jazz artists.

DeFrancesco has recorded more than 30 albums as a band leader, and in 2014 was inducted into the inaugural Hammond Organ Hall of Fame.

DeFrancesco will be performing with his trio during Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest on Friday, April 8 in the Miller Center for the Arts. The program will also feature organist Lucas Brown and drummer Anwar Marshall.
