Gypsy Jazz is the term used to describe the music pioneered by the Hot Club of France Quintet, which was led by guitarist Django Reinhardt. Django was doing his own version of American Hot Jazz, as played by stars like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

Hot jazz got its name from its blazing tempos and fiery improvisations.

Julien Labro has established himself as one of the foremost accordion and bandoneón players in both the classical and jazz genres. His artistry, virtuosity and creativity as a musician, composer and arranger have earned him international acclaim and continue to astonish audiences worldwide.

Finnish-born Olli Soikkeil started playing guitar at age 12. After a few years of playing, Soikkeli was introduced to the music of Reinhardt and Gypsy Jazz has been his main focus ever since.

The Hot Club of Reading consisting of Josh Taylor on guitar; Chris Heslop on sax; Ken Gehret on violin, accordion and guitar; Trey LaRue on bass and Josiah Taylor on guitar focuses on early hot jazz stylings made popular by Reinhardt and Armstrong. Each member is featured as a soloist and the music is swing based.

Gonzalo Bergara is a virtuoso composer and lead guitarist, mixing a cascade of arpeggios with the sounds of Paris and his native Argentina, to forge his own style of progressive Gypsy Jazz.

Bergara’s music exists in a way that very little music does. He lavishes such care on every phrase, builds each arrangement with such lapidary precision and pares away anything extraneous, the music becomes sculpture. It has weight, density and gravity.
