Pianist/trombonist Brian Culbertson has appeared many times at Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest over the years, often providing the grand finale to the festival, as he will in this year’s festival, with “The Trilogy Tour,” based on his 2021/22 albums “Red = Passion,” “Blue = Melancholy” and “White = Hope,” dubbed “The Trilogy.”

Starting with his first CD, created during his studies at DePaul University in Chicago and resulting in his first record deal in 1994 (“Long Night Out’’), Culbertson has created 26 albums of contemporary jazz, funk, gospel, pop, blues, R&B and more. He founded the Napa Valley, Chicago, and New Orleans Jazz Getaways, annual festivals that he continues to curate.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, he began hosting “The Hangout,” small online gatherings of fans, which stimulated him to record “XX” (2020), “Music From The Hang” (2020), “Soundscapes” (2021), and “The Trilogy,” his takeaway from a difficult but creative period.
