The holiday show, which has become a popular tradition for many years, will feature the influential, multi-genre saxophonist/singer/songwriter celebrating the season with special guests Vincent Ingala, Lindsey Webster, and Adam Hawley. All four artists have thrilled audiences at Berks Jazz Fest.
“Mindi has put together a very talented ensemble for her first holiday show tour,” said John Ernesto, Berks Jazz Fest general manager. “Vincent, Lindsey, and Adam have grown into stars of contemporary jazz.
“We are excited to present Mindi’s special concert to our longtime holiday show fans.”
Abair, whose albums have stayed high on smooth jazz and blues charts for more than two decades, has been touring in holiday concerts since 2003, when she was part of guitarist Peter White’s annual Christmas show. She and White collaborated with trumpeter/vocalist Rick Braun on the album “A Peter White Christmas” (2007), which includes her song, “I Can’t Wait for Christmas,” released in her original version as a single in 2003.
Ingala, whose charismatic saxophone playing is only the tip of the iceberg of instruments he can play, has recently released his seventh album, “Fire & Desire,” on which he plays every instrument on all nine original compositions and his arrangement of “Disco Sax.” Another song from the album, “On the Move,” became his most recent No. 1 airplay hit.
Singer/songwriter Webster is a member of the younger generation of jazz singers, following in the footsteps of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, but putting their own eclectic stamps on the genre. Webster, Billboard’s Artist of the Year in 2016 and 2017, released her fifth album, “A Woman Like Me,” in March 2020, showing her roots in R&B, pop, rock, and jazz.
Hawley, known for his expert guitar work, is a popular sideman and has released four albums of his own, the latest of which is “Risin’ Up” (2021). His first was “Just the Beginning” (2016), followed by “Double Vision” (2018) and “Escape” (2020). The title song from “Risin’ Up” became his ninth No. 1 airplay hit.
Inspired by the TV holiday specials she grew up with, Abair has selected the three artists to bring “that classic little-bit-of-everything vibe to create a memorable show,” she said. “I love Lindsey’s voice, the way she sings from the heart. Adam is a ridiculously talented guitarist and producer. And Vincent, who I toured with last year as part of Summer Horns, is the most talented guy you can imagine!”
