The Blues Foundation recently announced the nominees for the 40th annual Blues Music Awards.
Two Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest headliners were among the nominees.
Dynamic vocalist Sugaray Rayford was nominated for the prestigious B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award. He also was nominated in the Soul Blues Male Artist category.
Bruce Katz was nominated for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player award. He also was nominated in the Acoustic Album category for his collaboration with Joe Louis Walker and Giles Robson.
During the Berks Jazz Fest, Sugaray Rayford and Bruce Katz will be part of an amazing blues triple-header that also features guitarist Walter Trout.
The concert is set for Saturday, April 6, 1:30 p.m., at The Inn at Reading.
The BMA awards ceremony will be held Thursday, May 9, in Memphis, Tenn.
Several artists who performed at the second annual Reading Blues Fest last November also were nominated – Shemekia Copeland, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Billy Branch, Vanessa Collier, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials, and Tinsley Ellis.
