Peter Rogan is a Reading guitarist/songwriter whose music is a blend of Americana, blues, funk and jazz.

He released his first full-length album Still Tryin’ to Believe in 2019, a polished CD recorded with some of Nashville’s finest. It’s hard to believe it took him until he was 57 to make a record.

“I can’t find a better word (to explain it) except for fear,” he says. “I couldn’t get myself to finish anything. I could start a song, and it might even be pretty good, but I just couldn’t finish it.”

Rogan also is a three-time finalist in The Great American Song Contest in 2014, 2016 and 2018. He was a winner in the instrumental category in 2017 for a composition he co-wrote with Chris Heslop called “Song for Keith.”

Rogan grew up in the 1970’s playing rock and blues. He discovered jazz in his late teens and started to study music more seriously in his early 20’s. Not fitting in with the hair bands of the early 1980’s, he abandoned rock and roll and dove full-time into jazz.

He moved to New York City in 1985 and studied with Leni Stern, took some lessons with John Abercrombie and Wayne Krantz, and jammed as much as possible with people in the jazz world.

Returning to Pennsylvania to take a steady musical job, he played weddings, bar mitzvahs and society jobs in the tri-state area for many years. He then began working in a steel mill to better support his family while pursuing his musical career.

Phil Madeira is a Nashville-based musician, artist, songwriter and producer.

He has long been a behind-the-scenes shaker and mover as a band member (Emmylou Harris, Red Dirt Boys, Buddy Miller and The Phil Keaggy Band) and session musician/songwriter (Alison Krauss, Mat Kearney, Old Crow Medicine Show, Buddy Miller, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Keb’ Mo’, Amy Grant, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Civil Wars, Julie Miller, The Band Perry, Mavis Staples and many more).

Madeira has been quietly releasing solo records over the years, which brought him to the famed Newport Jazz Festival with his trio. A musician’s musician, this great singer-songwriter dazzles and moves listeners with his songs and artistry.

The Peter Rogan Band features Cliff Starkey on keys, Fred Moreadith on percussion, Jeremy Boyd on drums, Charise Rogosky on bass, and Dawn Blandford and Charlene Holloway on vocals.
