Music of Stevie Ray Vaughn
TOMMY KATONA & TEXAS FLOOD
The Inn at Reading / Wyomissing
Tickets: $30 (General Admission)
Evolving from the original tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood pays tribute to the legends as well as the future of the blues through its own music and style while still paying homage to Vaughan. With an in-your-face show and raw high energy playing, Katona and his band take audiences on a journey through the blues.
Katona was raised in Pecs, Hungary. At the age of four, Vaughan became one of Katona’s biggest musical influences. It began one day while he was watching one of his father’s videos of the Texan legend playing.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the most influential guitarists and vocalists in the revival of the blues in 1980. He was described as a rocking powerhouse of a guitarist who gave blues a burst of momentum, with his influence still felt long after his tragic death in a 1990 helicopter crash.
Katona landed in Dallas on October 3. 2007. Stevie Ray’s birthday. A chance circumstance indeed. While in Texas, Katona played with many musicians and had different musical projects.
One more of his dreams came true when he played with Double Trouble bassist Tommy Shannon at the Granada Theater in Dallas. Double Trouble was Vaughan’s band.
As well as constant performances, Katona also teaches guitar during the day. His favorite guitar always has, and always will be a Fender Stratocaster.
