Backstage at Berks
Diane Dayton, longtime radio/television personality, has been reporting on the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest for over 20 years. Diane’s interviews with major jazz artists have aired on numerous platforms from TV and radio to social media.
During the fest, Diane hosts the Backstage at Berks segments before major concerts at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading and the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Giving fans a special preview just before the concert starts, Diane interviews artists backstage, which are shown on video screens in the venue.
Diane also serves as Executive Director of LCTV 6, producing programs for the Lancaster community.
Backstage at Berks with Karen Briggs
Violinist extraordinaire Karen Briggs talks her return to Berks Jazz Fest, her “favorite jazz festival.” Karen will be performing with "Celebrating the Women in Jazz" on Saturday, April 1. Karen talks her excitement playing with the all-star ensemble and Chris “Big Dog” Davis, producer of the show.
Karen also is a part of the Chuck Loeb Memorial All Star Jam on Thursday March 30. Karen reflects on an earlier jam performing “Sweet Georgia Brown” with Chuck.
You also will see Karen Performing during Gerald Veasley Unscripted Jams the second weekend.
Backstage at Berks with Kayla Waters
Award-winning pianist Kayla Waters returns to Berks Jazz Fest to be part of the "Celebrating the Women in Jazz" show on Saturday April 1. Kayla also is part of the Gerald Veasley Unscripted Jams. Kayla shares her strong faith in God and her desire to paint the love of God with heavenly harmonies, colors and sounds. She also talks about performing with her father, the amazing Kim Waters.
Backstage at Berks with Eric Darius
Previewing his upcoming Berks Jazz Fest performances, Diane Dayton chats with saxophonist Eric Darius, who kicks off his BJF schedule as part of the Chuck Loeb Memorial All-Star Jam on Thursday, March 30. He will take the stage again on Friday, March 31, at the DoubleTree with Eric Roberson and Avery * Sunshine. Darius concludes his time at the 2023 Berks Jazz Fest with the Gerald Veasley Unscripted Jam after his Friday concert.
Eric discusses his love for music education and the "On a Mission in the Schools" initiative he created.
