In celebration of its 35th anniversary, Berks Arts has expanded the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest into a six-week regional celebration that will extend through the entire month of April.

The milestone fest continues through Thursday, April 30, formally aligning the event with Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) — a worldwide observance dedicated each April to honoring the history, artistry, and global impact of jazz.

With the fest’s March schedule completed, the newly created BJF35/JAM Celebration will take center stage throughout April, featuring 51 additional jazz events at venues across Berks County and the surrounding region.

The expansion significantly broadens the fest’s footprint, creating new performance opportunities for local, regional, and national artists while offering audiences expanded access to live jazz in a variety of settings — from intimate clubs and listening rooms to theaters and larger concert venues.

Signature Cruise Experiences (SCE), the gold standard of jazz entertainment at sea, has come onboard to sponsor the BJF35/JAM Celebration.

Each year, SCE produces The Jazz Cruise, Journey of Jazz, David Foster: The Hitman Cruise, Chris Boti at Sea, and three Smooth Jazz Cruises.

what is jam?

Smithsonian National Museum of American History established Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) in 2001 to honor and celebrate the rich legacy of jazz throughout the month of April.

Each year, JAM encourages people of all ages to explore jazz — its history, legendary and emerging artists, classic recordings, live performances, and its lasting cultural and global impact.
